7 Tips to boost your marketing confidence and make more sales

boost your sales and marketing confidence

How often have you thought, “I’m just not good at marketing”?

And I don’t blame you…

Because putting yourself out there and marketing your business can be challenging, especially when you’ve never had to do it before.

However, the problem is…

When you don’t market your business confidently, you’ll never break through and make enough sales to build the sustainable dream business you really want.

And worse still… if you’re holding yourself back because you lack the confidence to put yourself out there, then it’s probably why you haven’t seen the growth you would like…

…yet.

7 Tips to boost your marketing confidence and make more sales

Now, I often hear people in my community say they’re not sure where to start when it comes to marketing their service business.

And I worry that this belief is massively getting in the way of where they want to be.

It means they stay stuck in the same place in their business because they don’t have the clarity they need to move forwards and grow…

…they don’t see the sales and revenue they deserve because they aren’t consistent with their marketing activities and campaigns…

…and they slow down their business growth because they don’t have the motivation and confidence they need to attract and bring in profitable new clients.

However, there are some simple and effective ways to build your sales and marketing confidence.

Yes, you will need to face your fears and initially do things that may feel uncomfortable.

But the effort required in the beginning will be worth it over the longer term.

So, here are seven ways you can boost your sales and marketing confidence and make more sales in your service business:

1. Get to know your target audience well

When you know and understand your audience well, it shines through in your messaging and helps to boost engagement.

And this engagement from your followers can be pretty motivating and exciting because you start to see a return on the effort you’re putting into your marketing.

So, if you haven’t yet spent some time researching your audience, put together a short survey that you can send to your followers.

2. Design brand assets you’re not embarrassed to use

I often see people holding back on their marketing because they’re embarrassed by their branding.

Perhaps their branding photos are out of date or look unprofessional.

Or maybe they haven’t yet created branded social media templates they can use.

I recommend creating a brand style guide and some branded marketing assets to boost your marketing confidence.

One of the best design tools you can use is Canva which has customisable templates that are easy to adapt.

Also, book a professional photo shoot to get some headshots taken.

You don’t need to spend a fortune when you’re building your brand initially.

However, a few professional shots can help you break through that barrier holding you back from confidently marketing your business and making more sales.

3. Get professional support to enhance your messaging

When marketing your service business, one of the hardest things is developing your messaging.

Because, it’s difficult to talk about yourself and your business when you’re so close to it.

So, if you’re having trouble finding the right words and spinning around in circles trying to figure out what to say…

Then, maybe it’s time to think about hiring a copywriter to help you with crafting your main marketing messages.

Getting a copywriter to write the sales page for my Business Breakthrough Coaching Program was one of the best investments I’ve made in my business.

It’s helped me improve the sales conversion rate on my site and provided me with messaging I can re-purpose and confidently use in my social media and email marketing.

4. Practise your sales pitch and seek out feedback

It’s true that the more you speak about your business, the better your messaging will get.

And the more confidence you’ll build to put yourself out there and introduce yourself to others.

I also recommend practising in front of others who can give you feedback and help you to enhance your sales pitch.

As they say… practice makes perfect.

And this is especially the case when it comes to marketing and making sales.

5. Choose marketing activities that play to your strengths

There are so many roles you need to take on when you start a business that it can be pretty overwhelming.

So, rather than trying to be good at every marketing out there, choose the type of activities that play to your strengths.

For example, if you like speaking but hate writing, you’ll be better off starting a podcast rather than putting yourself through the stress of regularly writing blogs.

When you focus on the marketing activities you feel comfortable doing, you’ll be more likely to stay consistent.

And this consistency will enable you to get better at marketing and build your confidence to make more sales.

6. Focus more on your clients (and less on you!)

A past business coach gave me this tip years ago, and it’s stuck with me:

If you’re worried about putting yourself out there…

Or, if you’re feeling anxious about what other people might say…

Then, you may think a little too much about yourself and not enough about your clients.

Our clients don’t care that much about our businesses because they’re not close to them.

All our clients are interested in is finding someone to help them solve their pain points.

So, the next time you’re not feeling confident about putting yourself out there, take a moment to stop and consider what your clients need from you.

It will help shift your mindset into a more positive space and give you the confidence to stop worrying about what others think.
